It’s over a year since Prunella Scales re-launched the new Best Western Hotel Gleneagles in Torquay on 18 September, 2007. What a lot can happen in a year!

After receiving incredible national and international press and television publicity, the Hotel Gleneagles has now become Torquay’s highest rated AA 3 star (78%) hotel. It has also recently been awarded a high rating by Best Western making it possible to be part of the Best Western Connoisseur Group.

Sue Pine, general manager at Hotel Gleneagles, and operations manager Trevor Cornish are both committed to developing the high standards and quality that co-owners Brian Shone and Terry Taylor demand. The foursome's goal is to offer ‘country house style’ comfort at affordable rates.

Famous personalities who have enjoyed the special setting and generous hospitality at Hotel Gleneagles include Prunella Scales, Tessa Jowell (M.P), Phil Tufnell, Wayne Fontana and The Mindbenders, and travel correspondent Simon Calder.

Recently Hotel Gleneagles accommodated the film crew from the top TV holiday show 'Wish You Were Here' when they were filming on the English Riviera.

The Hotel Gleneagles underwent a £1million refurbishment in 2006 to be spectacularly transformed - from a seaside hotel that inspired John Cleese to create the BBC hit TV show ‘Fawlty Towers’ - into a modern boutique style hotel typical of those found in the world’s most glamorous ‘must visit’ cities and resorts.

Hotel Gleneagles is positioned in the chic Torquay neighbourhood of Wellswood, overlooking Lyme Bay, and continues to generate an amazing wealth of worldwide publicity for Torquay and the English Riviera.
