Preview of Torre Abbey Mansion

The THA has arranged for members to pay an early visit to Torbay's historic Torre Abbey Mansion. Working with Kier, the contractors, a members of their staff will show us around the newly renovated parts of the Mansion on Thursday 7th February at mid-day

The visit will take approximately an hour and a half.

It is important for members who wish to join the trip to wear strong sensible footwear and the contractors will provide helmets and safety clothing.

The revival of the historic Cowes - Torquay Internation Power Boat Race

The Chairman received a telephone call earlier this week  from Lord Beaverbrook with the news that the above event is to take place on Sunday, August Bank Holiday, subject to suitable weather conditions and confirmation.

Lord Beaverbrook, Chairman of the British Power Boad Racing Club, has authorised the return of this famous international event, originally founded by Sir Max Aiken, who made this simple and profound statement nearly fifty years ago. "I have a house in Cowes and one in Torquay and I would like to have a race between the two." Needless to say, that is precisely what happened for decades.
