Congratulations to the team working hard to bring Olympic training to Torbay ahead of the 2012 Games.In a month when it has felt as if Torbay is actually falling to bits, Gordon Oliver, Roger Mann and the others have given a much needed boost by putting us in the Olympic training camp guide.

If they are successful, it will mean extra income for hotels, bed and breakfast houses, shops and restaurants in the off-season part of the year, not to mention the public relations benefit of worldwide media exposure and the encouragement to local sporting youngsters.

And whatever your politics, the prospect of a major Tory conference in the Bay next year is also good news for our beleaguered economy and ailing reputation.
